Erin Hickey is a contemporary surrealist figurative artist who began exhibiting her works in 2005. She is of Irish decent born and raised in a small town on the East Coast of Long Island; Shirley. She began painting at age 15 under trained atelier instruction. Her love for the human form grew while studying classical drawing and painting techniques through books and live demonstrations. After several years of bouncing around the United States, studying at The Maryland Institute College of Art, and alongside with contemporaries from New York she began to develop her own sense of a pop-surrealistic style. Her innate passion for expressing mood and emotion on canvas and paper along with her mastery of technique in oil and graphite was soon recognized, in the United States and abroad. While her femme fatale figures mature in style and intensity, they retain her signature ethereal quality that echoes Mannerist elements and lighting of the Baroque period. Her figures always capture elusive moments in the artist's individual perception and experiences.Erin's stunning portraits have attracted an audience of collectors who treasure owning a rare, truly unique work of art.
